It has been a nice fortnight for the stable's metropolitan runners with SPIRITUAL PURSUIT, COVERT OPERATION and RIVER BIRD picking up wins in Sydney for their connections.
At Randwick on the 22 June, SPIRITUAL PURSUIT relished the heavy conditions over the 1000m trip. The filly had returned in good order just being run down for second in her first up run this preparation at Rosehill. Partnered by Kathy O'Hara, the three year old went one better justifying favouritism with a 1.5 length victory.
COVERT OPERATION made an impressive debut on the Kensington track. Jockey Jason Collett had his work cut out for him with the son of EPAULETTE racing greenly. However, his manners were overcome by the three year old's obvious ability in the straight as he powered home past SPLENDID SURPRISE to win by 0.3 lengths.
Meanwhile, RIVER BIRD has continued on with the job posting back to back wins at Rosehill under the guidance of jockey Jenny Duggan. Another runner sired by EPAULETTE, it was her third win from four starts this preparation and a perfectly timed run to win by 0.2 lengths.
