Let The River Run

It was a sweet maiden victory for RIVER BIRD at Wyong following a string of strong performances since the three year old first hit the track.

Running third in the Group 3 Widden Stakes as a two year old at just her second start, the filly had been consistent running into the placings at metropolitan level last preparation.

Stepping back to the provincials for her first start this preparation, the filly proved a class above the opposition as was expected by the market, starting the odds on favourite.

Jockey Kathy O’Hara kept the filly out of trouble over the 1000m trip, taking her around runners to give the daughter of EPAULETTE a clear run. Kicking clear in the straight RIVER BIRD won by 1.9 lengths in 57.88 seconds.

Out of the talented galloper AMBER’S CROWN, we hope the homebred for Mr. Rapisarda can continue on from a strong start to her preparation.
