The Fast and the Furious

The heavens opened in the lead up to this week’s Rosehill Gardens meeting, however the heavy conditions were of little concern to SIREN’S FURY. While the field was depleted in the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes, the quality of those runners remaining was hard to question. The presence of this year’s G1 CF Orr Stakes winner MANUEL, last year’s Golden Slipper winner in ESTIJAAB, previous G1 Doomben 10,000 winner MUSIC MAGNATE and last start G1 placed ARDROSSAN gave the market little confidence in the mare by MYBOYCHARLE early in the week.

The race looked to have pace from the outset, and it was soon apparent that this wouldn’t be in question after the opening events saw leaders dominate. From the jump ESTIJAAB, ARDROSSAN, MUSIC MAGNATE and FIERY HEIGHTS fought for the lead, with the golden slipper winner beating out the three and crossing the field from an outside barrier. SIREN’S FURY settled in the back half of the field, only just keeping in touch behind a solid tempo. Coming into the straight, the leaders soon started to tire and jockey Tim Clark was able to get on the back of MANUEL. Once clear, she finished with a brilliant kick off the rain affected surface, surging past MANUEL in the shadows of the post.

The half-sister to Hong Kong sensation HOT KING PRAWN has been a strong competitor for the stable, notching up just under $500,000 in prizemoney, winning two group three races and running top four in a further three black type events.
