Winning Ways

The wins have kept ticking over for a handful of the stable runners this month, with RANCHO NOTORIOUS, GRIMOIRE and MALTHOUSE notching up multiple victories this preparation. Four year old MALTHOUSE has had the perfect start to his racing career, taking out both of his first two starts at Goulburn and Kembla Grange. The gelding by CARLTON HOUSE is a rare commodity, one of only 57 live foals produced while the stallion was available to the Australian market. He has shown tenacity in both wins to date, scoring over 1200 and 1300m and we look forward to see how he progresses.

RANCHO NOTORIOUS has kept up his strong form after breaking his maiden, putting together a double at the Kensington track on the backup. The gelding appreciated the step up in trip to the 1400m when partnered by Glen Boss on the 2nd of October. Ridden positively from the outside draw, the son of HIGH CHAPARRAL found a position midfield and was too strong down the straight taking the win by 0.8 lengths. One week later he was finding the line again, albeit in a much closer affair when James McDonald steered him home over the 1550m for a 0.1 length victory over LENINGRAD.

Meanwhile GRIMOIRE struck again for the second time in his three starts this preparation, taking the trip to Port Macquarie in his stride. It was a well timed run by jockey Adam Hyeronimus, with the MAGIC ALBERT gelding finding the gap at the right moment in the straight to have his nose in front on the line. It was the fifth win from seventeen starts for the consistent galloper.
